Baking soda can be used to help you clean!

Baking isn’t the only thing baking soda is good for…

If you are like us, the last time you used baking soda in the kitchen was for making grandma’s famous chocolate chip cookies. It turns out that we’ve been missing out on one of the best things about baking soda: IT CLEANS! Surprisingly it does an amazing job. We’ve compiled a list of 10 things that baking soda can help you out with below!

1. Refresh the refrigerator

Okay, we’ll give this one to you. Pretty much everyone knows putting baking soda in the fridge keeps the foul smells to a minimum and helps it smelling fresh and new. It just wouldn’t be a list about baking soda without this though!

2. Get rid of mildew in the bathroom

Simply wiping your bathtub, sink, and shower curtain with a damp sponge and baking soda will take care of any lingering mildew in the area. Once you wipe it down, simply rinse it off to reveal your sparkling surface!

3. De-clog a drain

Pour some baking soda in that stubborn drain and follow it up with some vinegar. After it’s done bubbling, run hot water down the drain and see how quickly it drains. Repeat if necessary to fully clear out the drain.

4. Freshen up old sneakers

Next time you finish at the gym, simply sprinkle a little baking soda in your shoes (and your gym bag too!) to freshen them up. Just make sure to tap it out before you put them on again!

5. Scrub your grill

Before you spend too much time scrubbing your grill with your grill brush, sprinkle a little baking soda on it first! It will help tremendously in getting rid of last weekends bbq and make this weeks burgers taste that much better!

6. Deep clean the dishes

When you have extra dirty, baked on food, and greasy dishes, baking soda will come to the rescue! Add it to the sponge and watch as the dishes practically do themselves!

7. Reveal a sparkling kitchen

Baking soda practically boosts the cleaning ability of anything you add it to. Next time you are cleaning the kitchen, combine it with a little water to scrub your countertops, stove top, microwave, and any other surface to really let your kitchen shine.

Baking soda really does it all…

At the end of the day, if we can get the house more clean and do it faster, it just leaves us that much more time to enjoy some of those cookies we put in the oven before we started cleaning everything. Just make sure you take them out before they burn!
